An anticipated opening
For the Genevans, this address once housed a historic institution: Café Universal, which opened its doors in the early 20th century. While the new owners have revived some of its former charm—through large mirrors, coupe de champagne glasses lined up at the bar, and an avant-garde aesthetic—they’ve also infused a contemporary feel to the space. The trio of owners, hailing from Italy, France, and Mexico, brings a rich blend of cultures, with a menu flirting also with Spain. The dishes are crafted around carefully selected ingredients from the local surrounding. This is elegant and luxurious, without being pretentious.
