Community at the core
At Café de Ceuvel, food is more than nourishment – it is conversation, connection and community. The restaurant was born out of a pioneering circular project on Amsterdam’s waterfront, where houseboats and old docks were turned into a living lab for sustainable urban life. Vegetarian menus are created from donated produce, and the spirit of inclusion runs through every detail – from flat hierarchies to gender balance and an open-minded culture. Beyond the kitchen, Café de Ceuvel hosts talks, supports grassroots experiments and runs a community soup kitchen, inspiring others to live better by doing better.
