Barge East
71-75
Sustainability in all aspects
Barge East is situated on a 125-year-old Dutch barge, permanently moored on the canal in the Hackney Wick area of East London. This is a unique gastronomic experience in every way, especially in its ability to think sustainably in every part of the process. The food feels rustic, honest, and simple — made with local and seasonal ingredients. Even drinks are locally sourced, and the menu highlights lots of nearby breweries, distilleries, and wineries. We think that’s exactly how it should work: the restaurant showcasing the producers!
Sustainability highlights
- Nose-to-tail cooking
- 80 percent organic ingredients
- Vegetables are grown right outside the entrance to the restaurant
- Upcycled interior decor and furniture
- No cling film, no vacuum bags
